Our Mission
As a private non-profit educational center, The Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada, Inc. is a play-based learning environment dedicated to offering unique and innovative hands-on learning adventures in the Arts, Sciences, and Humanities, providing the joy and wonder of discovery to children and families from economically and culturally diverse backgrounds.
The Heart of
Carson City
The Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada is in the heart of downtown Carson City. a historic gem registered on the National Registry of Historic Places; Completed in 1939 as the Carson City Civic Auditorium. In the early 1990’s, the community came together with plans to repurpose the Civic Auditorium to the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada.
Community from
the Start
The community came together to volunteer, provide materials, and fundraise to Bring the Children’s Museum to life. Renovations to the Building began in 1993, and in 1994, the Children’s Museum opened its doors for the community as private 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving the children and families of the area.
30 Years of Service
The Children’s Museum will be celebrating 30 years in 2024!
Revitalizing the Museum experience for families could not come at a better time. Building new experiences through exhibits and offerings to better suit the desires and current needs in the community. By creating new educational, hands-on, play based learning opportunities for long lasting impressions. Building upon the vision of encouraging and inspiring the youth through engaging offerings.
